MY PLEDGE AS A FANGIRL…
I am a fangirl of one or more anime characters. However, I am taking this pledge because I am a realistic fangirl, and I refuse to be clumped with the ones going “ZOMG! ________ IS SO HAWT, AND WE ARE GETTIN MARRIED!!!!!!!!!!1!!” In other words, as a fangirl, I realize that…

1. My favorite character is not real, nor will he ever be.

2. I am not married/going out with/have been raped by my favorite character. You would think that, for most people, this would be in accordance with #1. It isn’t.

3. There is not a single anime character out there that is actually in love with me or any OC created by myself or others. (i.e. Gaara is not going to suddenly burst out in the middle of an episode saying: “It’s not true! I don’t only love myself! My heart belongs to _______-chan!”)

4. No matter how many times I prove my devotion to him, there is no such thing as the “number one fangirl”. No matter how unpopular a character may seem, there will always be fans of him, and none of them are better than the others.

5. The laws of the anime world will not be broken for my favorite character. (i.e. Sasuke will never become the main character of Naruto, no matter how much he has to do with the plot.)

6. I will not support a pairing of my favorite character that is considered demeaning by today’s social standards. (i.e. I will not make him out to be a pedophile.)

7. No matter how much cooler the plot would be, I accept that the manga-ka is not going to always change the story to suit the wishes of my favorite character. (i.e. Obito is dead. Let’s admit that and move on.)

8. Unless the manga-ka specifically makes him out to be this way, my favorite character is not a complete pervert.

9. And as in the case of many characters, with villains in particular (we’re looking at YOU, Akatsuki!), my favorite character does not only think about sex. He has better things to worry about.

10. No matter how much I may joke about it, I will not actually believe that my favorite character is homosexual, bisexual, a transvestite, incestual, pedophilic, perverted, or even interested in sexual activity unless the manga-ka makes it absolutely clear that he is.

11. Likewise, I will not actually believe that my favorite character is insane, power-hungry, stupid, silly, nice, happy, emo, funny, etc unless the manga-ka clearly portrays him in that way.

12. No matter how many theories I make about a character, I acknowledge that none of them are true unless the manga-ka makes it so. (i.e. If I once believed in the “Yondaime is the leader of Akatsuki” theory, I would not go on believing it after seeing that the leader is actually Pein.)

13. Although I have the right to argue my opinions on a character, I will not purposely go up to another fangirl and go, “BACK OFF B*TCH, HE’S MINE!!” Besides the fact that that’s just rude and stupid, the character belongs to no one but the manga-ka. And I doubt the manga-ka wants the character the way we do. (xD)

14. Unless the manga-ka specifically portrays the character this way, my favorite character is not over-the-top romantic. Hell, chances are that he’s not romantic at all.

15. It could be very likely that my favorite character is a virgin and always will be. (Deal with it! D:<)

16. My favorite character is not any race other than Japanese (unless the manga-ka says otherwise), no matter the color of his hair or skin. This is anime, people. It’s made in Japan, by Japanese people, about Japanese people.

17. (In accordance to #5 about the ‘laws of anime’) If my favorite character is made in such a way that he cannot have sex, then he cannot have sex. It’s as simple as that. (i.e. Sasori cannot suddenly turn his body parts human whenever he feels like hopping into bed with someone.) Of course, this does not apply if the manga-ka says differently, but I doubt a manga-ka would waste their time specifying something that insignificant. P: Unless they write hentai.

18. If my favorite character IS involved in a relationship in the actual anime, I will be realistic about the pairing. (i.e. I will not insist that they are going to break up simply because I don’t think he should be with her.)

19. If my favorite character is a villain, I realize that the chances of him turning good are extremely slim. And if, by some small miracle, it does happen, I will not automatically assume that it will happen for all of the other characters similar to him. (i.e. Gaara became a good guy. Sasori did not.)

20. (And last but not least) No matter how much ItaLuv would like to believe it, the characters are not on crack and don’t make funny faces when you’re not looking. 8D
